I got the PSPO II certifcation. Big Whoop.
In December I attended the PSPO II training at Xebia. It was interesting, though a bit of an anti-climax as well. Sure, I've learned some new things, and I always find it interesting to hear other people's experiences, but it wasn't life changing, or perhaps a bit more modest, it didn't really change the way I look at the PO role.
I guess I'm a bit of an idealist (this is not one of the misunderstood or prefered stances of the PO, although maybe it could be). I always hope that the things I do will change the world - or will change me for the better. Despite 45 years of life experience and the inevitable truck loads of disappointments an idealist will have to process, I'm still incorrigible. I still believe change, real positive change is possible.
Actually, I feel good believing that. Saving the world from all our current crises is a challenge to say the least, and we're in for a rough ride in the next 10-20 years for sure. And the best thing we as humanity can do is to keep believing we have the power to change things, to turn things around. So that begs the question: what can we do to improve the situation? And that constructive inquisitive posture is my core driver as a PO.
My intension going in to the training was to gain new insights, improve my PO skills and learn from real-world case studies. The first thing we had to do was form a team. Somehow I'm never lucky forming teams. Two of the my three team members
